OVERVIEW & PURPOSE Four 2 hour adult classes to teach students how to:
- use their own sewing machine
- measure a person (or self)
- choose correct pattern size
- what fabric and notions are needed for the project
- choose correct needle for project
- sew a pair of pants, or short, or skirt with an elastic waist
Small class size; maximum of 5 students with 1 instructor
OBJECTIVES
- To understand the different types of needles and their uses
- To be able to comfortably pick a sewing pattern in the correct size choose fabric and notions
- To become comfortable using a sewing machine
- Sew a pair of pants or shorts or skirt with an elastic waist from a commercial pattern
- Sewing Machine, a bobbin (and manual for that machine) and thread
- Scissors that will cut fabric, measuring tape (not metal), pins, pencil or pen
- For second class- sewing pattern for elastic waist pants, shorts or skirt and waistband elastic, fabric with matching thread (wait to purchase these until after first class- instruction will be given during class on how to successfully do this)
- Reading a measuring tape
